Iron Cleaver is a Axe in Elden Ring. The Iron Cleaver scales primarily with Dexterity and Strength and is a good Weapon for aggressive fighters who like to face foes head on. This weapon allows players to take swing after swing especially with the Skill, Wild Strikes.
Fairly large iron cleaver, commonly used by the maltreated Misbegotten.
Steeped in resentment, these weapons are swung wildly and relentlessly, often after rushing up to foes.
Elden Ring Iron Cleaver Notes & Tips
- Weapon Skill: Wild Strikes.
- This weapon can be infused with Ashes of War and buffed with Magic and Consumables.
- Iron Cleaver can be upgraded by using Smithing Stones.
- Iron Cleavers are used by Misbegotten creatures.
- This weapon has a unique Moveset shared with the Celebrant's Cleaver.
- The R1 is a fast, close-range series of chopping attacks that do not have the same wide arc as other axes, but hits slightly faster
- The R2 is a forward running overhead chop, a second R2 will give you another overhead chop, but no extra run (useful for following up on staggered enemies). Charging the attack will cause you to run a very significant distance, offsetting this weapon's otherwise weak range and allowing for some extremely aggressive offense.
- This specialized moveset makes it play extremely different than a typical axe-type weapon. The run-up from the charged strong attack is long enough that you can initiate the move from a relatively safe distance, while maintaining the high damage of the charged attack. Paired with the Axe Talisman it can make for an extremely lethal weapon, even at high levels.
- Combining the charged attack with high poise armor (at least 51) will allow you to shake off the attacks of quicker enemies while you are running toward them.
- Powerstancing with this weapon in the right hand allows you to utilize the raw damage of dual wielding weapons, while still keeping the charged heavy attack available to close distance in fights.
- Immediately charging the heavy attack coming out of a dodge roll will allow you to aggressively counterattack against enemies that might have otherwise moved out of range.
- An offhand greatshield can help offset some of the weaknesses of this weapon, leveraging the fast and powerful guard counter that Axe-type weapons have. This is particularly useful against enemies that would otherwise interrupt the charged attack.
- Sell Value: 100
- Base drop rate is 2% (at 100 Discovery)
- NOTE: As of Patch 1.08, the speed and distance of some attacks have been increased and the recovery time has been reduced. Also the stagger damage of Axes’ guard counters has been increased. PVP's poise damage has also been reduced with this patch.
- NOTE: As of Patch 1.09, the scaling values of this weapon were changed. Please refer to the Upgrades Table of this weapon below.
- Physical damage updated as of Patch 1.08.
