Shield of Night is a Small Shield in Elden Ring. It is a brand new Small Shield in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. The Shield of Night is a Shield that scales primarily with Strength and Intelligence. Small Shields usually weigh very little and has the least form of protection from attacks. They are often used by players who prefer Parrying rather than Blocking. A shield awarded to Swordhands of Night, cast in a bottomless black from which no light can escape. The outer surface is only semicorporeal, providing reliable defense against attacks that are not physical in nature.

Shield of Night can be upgraded by using Somber Smithing Stones
The prime function of this shield is to block ranged attacks and spells and then quickly press L2 to fire off a damage boosted projectile in a Block-Counter type of animation that does far more damage than the normal projectile.
